Dan Rey has been with Microsoft for seven years as a Windows Client Technical Specialist. He started when Windows XP SP2 was the current Windows OS. The Desktop Optimization Pack and Windows Vista were released about a year after Dan joined the company. Three years later, Windows 7 was introduced to a world ready to upgrade. On his birthday (January 27th, 2010), the iPad was announced. Dan was the direct Device Champ and competed against various tablets from competitors. Most recently, Dan has taken on the System Center, Windows Intune, and Device Management roles in the Windows Client group. Dan did the demos at the Windows Vista launch at McCormick Place in 2007. He has spoken at TechReady, the MCT Summit, and delivered many of the Windows 7 Wednesday lunch and learn sessions across the Midwest District, as well as trained partners to scale coverage and delivery. He has been involved with Toastmasters for four years and has served as club VP of Public Relations, Vice President, President, and most recently as Area Governor in 2011-2012, overseeing five clubs from Elgin to Rockford. In this capacity, Dan has met with business leaders from companies like State Farm, Chicago Bridge and Iron, John Deere, Caterpillar, United Airlines, and Baxter. He has discussed leadership, personal improvement, the role technology plays in personal and professional life, and public speaking. Prior to Microsoft, Dan spent five years as a technical trainer, teaching Microsoft Official Curriculum at the Information Management Group in Chicago, IL. Dan taught most of the core infrastructure courses (Active Directory, SMS, MOM, Windows Client, and SQL Administration) and continues to keep his MCT (Microsoft Certified Trainer) credential current at Microsoft. He spoke at the MCT Summit in 2008 about the need for training companies to move from Windows XP to either Windows Vista or Server 2008 to accommodate additional memory needed for many of the virtual courses at the time. Dan has been married for 21½ years to Eva Rey, and they have two children, Sam (14 years old) and Audrey (9½ years old). Dan enjoys biking (when it’s above 50 degrees) and swimming with his kids.
